The best people just know how to get stuff done.
They don’t talk about it. They don’t explain how or why they’re going to do it. They take the ball and run.
Former President Obama has a great interview on this, linked here. The best bit is transcribed here:
“I've seen at every level people who are very good at describing problems, people who are very sophisticated in explaining why something went wrong or why something can't get fixed, but what I'm always looking for is, no matter how small the problem or how big it is, somebody who says, 'Let me take care of that.'”
The best founders do this. The best VCs do this, too. The best employees who rise fast do this. It’s simple advice, but hard to follow consistently. But if you build a reputation as someone who gets things done, there’s almost no limit to the great things you can accomplish.
