It will be 100 degrees in NYC today. I’m trying not to melt. I’m also hoping we don’t have rolling blackouts with everyone’s AC cranked up to eleven. Fortunately, there’s some hope for that. Earlier this week, New York State announced they were planning to build a 1 GW nuclear power plant, the first in 15 years. It feels like a sea change.
This renewed focus on new, ambitious plans is certainly having a moment, and Hard Tech is at the center of it. Yesterday, the Wall Street Journal featured the critical importance of Hard Tech, and how its success is deeply intertwined (and even enabled by!) AI.
From an investor perspective, this is all for good reason! When we look at the biggest companies today, public and private, most are Hard Tech in nature. We highlighted a few earlier this year at our AGM:
It’s an exciting moment to be building here. It’s an exciting moment to be investing here. And most importantly, this movement has the potential to inspire optimism about the future that feels like it’s been lost for years.
