Welcome to a weekend edition of Also Blog Posts! I’m just touching down after an incredibly busy week in California with (old and new) friends, founders, LPs, and co-investors. The energy in startup land right now is incredible!
Some highlights from the trip:
☢️ Visited Radiant’s new facility where they will be prototyping their first nuclear microreactor design.
🛰️ Toured K2 Space Corporation for the first time, and saw the initial build out of their mega class satellite taking shape!
🎉 Hosted friends at The General Partnership in SF for some mid-week snacks and drinks (a mini-Dorm Room Fund reunion!)
🍷 Connected folks in our LA community at an invite-only event in Manhattan Beach, bringing together leaders from some of the top venture-backed deeptech companies around.
📻 Visited AnySignal and got a behind-the-scenes look at their software-defined radio product slated to launch on Tom Mueller’s Mira spacecraft in a few short weeks.
🚀 Chatted with Suffiyan Malik at Draper University about hard problems to a packed room of ambitious founders creating some incredible tech to solve hard problems.
What I’m reminded of this week is just how important it is to get on the plane. In an increasingly digital and remote world, I feel we’re taking for granted the value we can derive from the biological and electrical signals we pick up when spending time with people in person. Making high impact decisions with incomplete and imperfect information is the job of the best VCs and founders, and it’s so critical to get all the data we can to make informed high conviction choices.
So get out from the behind the computer! Meet in person! Make things happen.
Have fun, play to win!
